Spain's Richest Duchess Dies Aged 88

The Duchess of Alba, Spain's richest woman and one its most eccentric figures, has died aged 88 in Seville. Maria del Rosario Cayetana Fitz-James Stuart had more titles than any other aristocrat and owned palaces and an extensive property portfolio as well as paintings by Goya and Velazquez. She died at home on Thursday after a short illness. The duchess is survived by her husband of three years, Alfonso Diez, who is 25 years her junior. The Duchess of Alba was the head of one of Spain's oldest noble families. Her coffin was taken to the city council building in Seville, where relatives, dignitaries and members of the public paid their respects. Private Funeral Arranged For Oscar De La Renta

The world lost a fashion icon this week when Oscar de la Renta passed away at 82 after a long battle against cancer. On Friday, it was announced that a private funeral service will be hosted in New York on Nov. 3 to honor the designer's life. The service is taking place at the same chapel where the family of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis held her funeral. Close family and friends will have an opportunity to pay homage to de la Renta at a private mass at Church of St Ignatius Loyola at Park Avenue and 84th Street, according to WWD. The legendary designer passed away on Monday evening at his home in Kent, Conn., surrounded by his family and "more than a few dogs," according to The Telegraph. Robin Williams Dead at 63 of Suspected Suicide

Robin Williams is dead at the age of 63. According to The Associated Press, the former Oscar winner and veteran actor committed suicide inside his Northern California home. The Marin County Sheriff's Office reports that authorities responded to a 911 call just before noon today and found the star’s unresponsive body on the scene; a coroner suspects suicide due to asphyxia. Williams went back to rehab last month to focus on sobriety and insiders confirm alcohol remained an issue for him up to the very end. He struggled with cocaine and alcohol abuse in the early 1980s, but had been sober for over two decades until recently. Williams was best known for his starring roles in classic films such Dead Poets Society, Mrs. Doubtfire and Jumanji. He won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Dr. Sean Maguire in Good Will Hunting and had just starred last TV season in the fall sitcom The Crazy Ones.
